In the mid-nineties, I did some gigs in South Africa with violinist, Ian Cooper. The highlight of the trip was getting to play in SOWETO. We played at a music school, did a radio broadcast and a concert for the children from the township. This picture was taken at the concert. I was demonstrating a groove when the kids were invited up on the stage and within seconds they surrounded the drum kit. Some danced and others clapped along. It was a beautiful experience to see them react so naturally.
